Poetic Sister! from whose glowing Heart
Genius & Truth all icy Thoughts dispell, [sic]
Accept a Present from that social art,
Whose Power een Poesy can scarce excell! [sic]
The Lyre & Pencil shall write to tell
With what pure Zeal I court thy kind regard:
Thy partial Eye will oft delight to dwell
On this resemblance of thy honour’d Bard:
This for thy sake the Hand of Friendship drew;
Thy Tenderness the’ expressive Gift will guard,
And if the Tablet to his Soul is true,
The faithful Image, tho’ of Features hard,
Will speak of Amity, thy favourite Theme!
And look on Thee with Eyes of fond Esteem.
