Derby May 10.th 1792

My dear H

I certainly shall not drive you to France. I would rather go thither myself. You may therefore return to Eartham as soon as you please, but I will request you to inform me when you return, that I may not run the risque of meeting you in town.

When you say that you will not remain at Eartham if I am in Sussex I cannot suppose that you wish to prevent my visiting the eastern end of the county; I should feel myself as remote from Eartham as I should at Southampton: & in the very secluded life you lead I could suppose it possible for you to be unconscious of my

residence at Felpham - but I am no judge of poetical influencies & affections. I am
